She is the author of a groundbreaking book, The Healing Way, A Journal for Cancer Survivors. Margie researched and wrote this workbook filled with therapeutic writing exercises while watching a close friend endure harsh treatment for cancer. From her many years as a teacher of personal essay writing, Margie knew that writing deep thoughts and feelings about stressful events could help people heal. The book was well-received in the cancer community, and she went on to lead therapeutic writing workshops online and in hospitals and hospices in Massachusetts and Florida.

In 2005 Margie decided she wanted to put adventure back into her life. She retired at 55 to Costa Rica, where she is anything but retired. As a professional retirement advisor, she consults via Internet and telephone mainly with women who are interested in taking the plunge and moving to Costa Rica. She learned the hard way how to pick up and move to another country, and she offers advice to make the move with maximum ease and enjoyment.

Margie also continues to teach personal essay writing by email to people throughout the world, she teaches English to Spanish-speaking businesspeople, and she writes and edits web sites, brochures and other marketing materials. You can contact Margie at retire2cr@yahoo.com.
